Silkworms

A couple days ago a neighbor, named Tammy, gave us silkworms. She told us that she had about 60 of them so she donated sixteen of them to me! When you feed them, you have to feed them mulberry leaves. When they grow up, they will produce silk!

To Parents: Why Kids Belong IN the Kitchen

Cooking with your children has many benefits:

  • Real life lessons. They are learning how to cook. An added benefit is that your future sons- or daughters-in-law will love you for it.
  • Bonding time. The best time to have conversations with your kids. The more one-on-one time we give our kids, the more they tend to open up. Perhaps you could designate a special day for each child to have with Mom and/or Dad in the kitchen.
  • More peas, please! If kids help prepare items such as vegetables, as well as help you shop for them, they are more likely to try them during mealtime. And kids that learn to eat well are more likely to eat well as adults. Also, they will less likely snack on junk food when you are preparing a healthy meal. By reading labels together and showing them what goes into a healthy meal, you will be teaching them great life-long eating habits.
  • A side of self-confidence. By letting your children help in the kitchen and try their hand at cooking, you are providing them with a healthy dose of self-esteem.
  • Building traditions. Pulling out the family recipe book together is a great way to share important family traditions as well as build a good foundation for starting your own. It will also give you an opportunity to share some of your fondest memories with your children.
  • Reducing their risk to use drugs This may seem far-fetched but it’s true. A report from the National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse at Columbia University says that kids who have open lines of communication with their parents, a strong bond and the support, praise, and acceptance by their parents decrease their chances of becoming drug abusers. Son, here’s your spatula.
  • Scrapping the screen time Kids that are in the kitchen cooking will spend less time parked in front of the computer or television screen. Engaging in a more productive activity, they are actually contributing something to the household. Genius! Think about all the arguments you won’t be having!
  • Foster their creativity As they become more confident in their way around the kitchen, cooking can give them an opportunity to flex their creative muscles. By fostering a creative spirit, you are giving your child another opportunity to explore who they are.
  • Teaching moments Kids get to see how things change through various processes in the kitchen: chopping, mixing, heating, freezing. Won’t their teachers be impressed when they come back to school with hands-on knowledge of their latest science lesson?
  • Showing a little love Not that saying “I love you” doesn’t matter—it does, but sometimes actions do speak louder than words. What professes your love to your kids more than inviting them to completely make a mess in the kitchen?

Acrobats Show of China

On Friday, there was an acrobats
show, and they are The National Acrobats of China! There were yo-yos, and really cool
everybody-stand-on-a-bike-and-cover-the-bicyclist’s- face act, and juggling act
with 10 balls, but my favorite part was the amateur swan lake! There was this
really big clumsy guy dressed as the swan, and another guy in the suit. They
keep falling over on each other on purpose of course. Then the swan is so heavy
that the guy in the suit faint. The swan is about to do another leap when he
finds that the guy in the suit fainted! The swan tells him to come up, but
doesn’t, and realizes that he has fainted. The swan runs over, and tries to do
CPR on him, and it doesn’t work. The swan puckers up his lips, get ready to do
mouth-to-mouth resurrection, and the guy in the suit gets up and slaps the swans
face and runs away!

My Fishies :P – updated

One of  my neighbors is moving, so they gave us a fish tank. It’s really big, and they gave us some things to go with it. Fish food, filter, automatic feeder, the gravel, the tank (duh), a fish log, fish treats, and a scrub. My mom says she will take me to get the new fish this afternoon. I am REALLY excited because I’ve always wanted a pet. My best friend, Avni, is a fish expert. She really understands fish. She could be a fish psychologist! In total, she has 21 fish; 4 pea-sized guppies, 17 regulars. I might get guppies. My mom says start with something easy like fish, then you can transfer to guinea pigs, birds, cats, then dogs. Also, one question, according to luck and ch’i, fish tanks in bedroom is bad, so, where should I put it?? And really don’t know what fish to get. And I also don’t know where to get it. I think the water is still contaminated, so I think we should use bottled water, but my mom says tap.

Any ways, I am thinking about getting 10, 3.5 inch fish (including the tail), and mom says yes. But before I get my fish, I am going to ask Promethium if she has any advice.

Actually, I got a fiddler crab, 2 guppies, and a striped fish.

Crab:Finnie

Guppie 1:Electro

Guppie 2:Scarlet

Stripes: PJ

They were cute, but we have to go through a long process, like setting them in the tank so they can get used to the temperature, and putting in the thermometer. It will be worth it though.

These fish are not that expensive.

At dinner time, Finnie attacked all of the fish, electro died 😦 , and Scarlet and Pj died the following morning. The fish lady said the guppies could live with the other fish! Liar……. 😦 😦 😦 😦 😦 😦 😦 😦 😦 😦 😦 😦

today my dad got a refund, and 5 goldfish, guppy sized, IN A SEPERATE TANK. Their names are Streak, Winnie, Mine, Bubba, and Shark. they are living, and very hungry.

Do you like them?

Fluffy’s wet nose: A very hot bunny. An explanation of our heroric actions.

So there is a bunny named Fluffy, today she was outside in that hot sweltering sun without any shade. He was out there for an hour or so and when I came to see him, his snout was unusually small. His snout was wet and looked like it had caved in. We found out on the internet that Fluffy was suffering from a heat stroke. I was supremely inclined to take Fluffy to the vet immediately  but my mom wasn’t so sure. After what, 7 days or so,  we took Fluffy to the vet. I ‘m kidding. In about an hour, there was Fluffy at the vet. In case you’ve never been to Belton Animal Clinic, it’s really boring. They take your animal to the back, shut you up in a small stuffy room and after an hour, they tell you how your animal is. In this case Fluffy was fine but according to the doctor, bunnies are very sensitive to heat so poor Fluffy could have been seriously well, heated and injured in a sun burned way. We found out Fluffy is a boy! We had always thought Fluffy was a girl. This process took about two whole hours. Then we clipped Fluffy’s way too long nails.  While we clipped Fluffy’s nails, I found a new way to pick Fluffy up. The vet also made Fluffy a special diet except Fluffy refuses to eat it that bad little bunny. Now Fluffy is better. I’m glad Fluffy’s so much better. I was so scared when Fluffy got that heat stroke but I’m also kind of glad Fluffy got the stroke because without it,we never would have known so many new things about that little bunny!!!

My perspective: Tippin’s Pie Festival…………………………………………………

It was at Hen house, the pie festival, and I had my I’m-not-so-excited-because-there’s-a-bounce-house-and-pesky-little-kids look on. We came in from the parking lot and got FREE ICE CREAM 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 :D!! I looked inside the pie tent, and there were $1slices of, French silk, Key lime, wild berry, lemon supreme, lemon merigune, chocolate merigune, blackberry, and caramel mocciatto suprise. we {mom and me} only bought 5 slices. After that, there was a pickle eating contest, and after a few bites, I gave up! The pie festival was not TOO fun…. But decent

Worlds of Fun: the Best Place Ever

Sorry I posted this a little late

It was a Sunday morning, I was just packing up all my stuff to get to Worlds of Fun. I was thinking about all the fun rides I went on last year the Mamba, Boomerang, the timberwolf, prowler, etc. Boy I am going to die there, I thought. I thought about the rides again. I was almost done packing up when my mom said, “Andy, get packed up, dressed up, and let’s go!”

I zipped my pack and went and put on my shoes. I opened the garage door, got in the car, and buckled my seatbelt. On the way we picked up Renny’s dad. He talked with my mom the whole way witch left me with nothing to do. It was obviously boring. We parked the car at Gold’s Gym and waited for Renny and Clara to come out from their dance class. It felt like a million hours until they came out (one reason was that I was very bored). They changed their clothes in their van. So far this trip to Worlds of Fun isn’t going so well for me.

When we got there, we looked at all of the rides. I was pretty amazed that I forgot it was so big. I asked if I could go on the Finish Fling and Renny’s mom said, “Okay.”

The Finish Fling was a little room where you spin around so fast that you stick to the wall. When the floor goes down, that’s when you really know you’re sticking to the wall. But don’t go on it too many times, you could get a stomachache. When I was done we went on the Sea Dragon. I thought it was pretty boring at first but when I went on it, it was really fun. It looks like a Vikings’ ship that swings up high back and forth and makes you feel like you’re going to fall out of your seat into the pond beneath it (just to let you know, it kind of makes you want to wet your pants).

That was when I started chanting, “Mamba! Mamba!”

But instead we went on a roller coaster called Patriot. I was actually surprised that I liked it since I predicted that I wouldn’t. It was different than all the other roller coasters ‘cause instead of sitting in a car, you’re actually sitting in seats that hang on some bars with wheels. I have to admit, it was one of the best rides I’ve ridden on. After that again I chanted, “Mamba! Mamba!”

Instead we went on the Boomerang. I already went on it before so I knew it was really fun so I didn’t really mind. It goes up a hill and then when you hear a “Psstt” sound, you drop rapidly and go in loopity-loops. After you go around and around, you go up another hill and after you hear a “Psstt” sound, you come down rapidly (again) and do the same thing but backwards. I rode it a few times. As usual I chanted, “Mamba! Mamba!”

Finally we got to go on the Mamba. It was the fastest roller coaster in the park. It was a giant roller coaster where you go up a really steep hill and drop at 75 mph! It was also followed by a series of smaller hills. They all lift you off of your seats.

We rode on many more rides too. I loved them all. It was a great trip.

Money bags

This year, July has 5 Fridays, 5 Saturdays and 5 Sundays. This happens once every 823 years. This is called money bags. So, forward this to your friends and money will arrive within 4 days. Based on Chinese Feng Shui. The one who does not forward…..will be without money.

Kinda interesting – read on!!!

This year we’re going to experience four unusual dates.

1/1/11, 1/11/11, 11/1/11, 11/11/11 and that’s not all…

Take the last two digits of the year in which you were born – now add the age you will be this year,

The results will be 111 for everyone in whole world. This is the year of the Money!!!
